If there were an ancient Rastafarian style of art, it would be Coptic. Copts are Egyptians
whose ancestors embraced Christianity in the first century AD. Coptic art and decoration
is inspired by Islamic forms and patterns. The art of Ethiopia, (Zion, the land promised by
Jah to the Rastafarians) is a branch of the Coptic style.
In the 1978 release 'Man from Wareika' Rico is part of a procession at the head of which
is Haile Selassie. In the second image, Rico is center stage, performing for Haile Selassie,
God incarnate, seated.
